Nomads land k100m kit deal k100m deal

Domestic football giants Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have landed a landmark year-long shirt sponsorship contract worth K100 million with 888 Bets Malawi.

The deal, covering all Wanderers’ men and women’s teams, is arguably the most lucrative shirt sponsorship contract on the local scene. It is followed by Silver Strikers’ recent K65 million jersey branding partnership with Betway Malawi.

During the contract signing ceremony at Golden Peacock Hotel in Blantyre on Saturday, Wanderers chief executive officer Panganeni Ndovi described the partnership as a big milestone after the recent Castel Challenge Cup triumph and a timely motivation ahead of the 2025 football season.

“This partnership is exciting news to the Wanderers’ family and we warmly welcome 888 Bets. We believe this will mutually benefit both the Nomads and the betting company,” he said.

“We have joined forces with a company that believes in Wanderers’ success and legacy. This will in turn make our team stronger as we pursue more trophies next season and help 888 Bets gain the visibility and popularity they deserve.”

888 Bets Malawi country manager Clement Kwesi said the partnership

with Wanderers is a strategic alliance that will shape a brighter future for both entities.

He said the company thought of partnering Wanderers because of its legacy as the country’s pioneer and popular football club.

“The legacy and loyalty of the fans is also what inspired us because we are looking at engaging the communities through various promotional activities that will help our brand to be well-known everywhere,” said Kwesi.

He hinted that the partnership with Wanderers will go beyond 2025.

Kwesi said Malawi is the seventh country they operate in across Africa since last year and they would like to become Malawi’s most trusted betting company.

Some of the notable individuals present during the contract signing ceremony were Wanderers board secretary Chancy Gondwe and fellow directors Tiya Somba Banda, Chris Gondwe and Limbani Magomero.

The players were represented by vice-captain captain Felix Zulu, Stanley Sanudi and Wanderers’ 2024 Player of the Season Isaac Kaliyati. Staunch Wanderers supporters such as Nelson ‘Bwede’ Chole, Yona Malunga and Herbert Mlaka were also in attendance, spicing up the event with songs and dance.

Urban music artist Phyzix, who is 888 Bets Malawi brand ambassador, capped the ceremony by dishing out some of his hits such as ‘Wife Material’.
